A melodic Bengali song in the new Tamil movie ‘Pokkisham’

With the lyrics penned by Yugabharathi, the Sabesh-Murali duo has come up with a lengthy musical score of 11 tracks, the movie Pokkisham, Cheran and Padmapriya in lead roles, talks about a young couple’s romance. Treasuring the love letters and gifts along with their experiences, the film features the couple’s walk down memory lane.
The bengali number starts on the lines of ‘Aaj Mone Boleche…’ and this has been sung by the noted singer Ujjayini. She then pairs up with Vijay Yesudas who has rendered his vocals. ‘Aaj Mone Boleche..’ starts with a prelude song by Ujjaini. Vijay Yesudas joins later and from there, the song takes on a sad feel, that of the forlorn lover.
The bengali part is folksy and chirpy but the tamil part is sad and achy. You hear strains of Suddha Danyasi raga here. The bengali lyrics have been penned by Gautam Bhattacharya. Appropriate use of shehnai adds to the folksy feel of the song.
